The Renfrew Center of Dallas
The Renfrew Center of Dallas specializes in the treatment of anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and related mental illnesses. Programming consists of a comprehensive range of services, including day treatment, intensive outpatient and group therapy.
The Renfrew Center of Dallas is located at 9400 N. Central Expressway, on the eastern side of freeway between Park Lane and Walnut Hill. Parking is available adjacent to the building with handicap access. Our offices are located on the first floor at Suite 150.
Meet Our Clinical Leaders:
Laurie Cooper, PsyD, is the Regional Assistant Vice President. Dr. Cooper received her Doctorate of Psychology from Baylor University and completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. An Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at Vanderbilt University, her clinical and administrative experience includes 25 years of care in outpatient and intensive-care settings treating eating disorders, women’s issues and child and adolescent assessment/intervention. Dr. Cooper is a frequent lecturer on the topics of best practices in the treatment of eating disorders and helping mothers and daughters be authentic and resilient. She is a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders, National Eating Disorders Association, Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee, The Nashville Psychotherapy Institute, RenewED, and the National Academy of Professional Women.
Audrey Atkins, LPC-S, is the Site Director at The Renfrew Center of Dallas. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas and her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas Wesleyan University. Ms. Atkins’ 15 years of clinical and administrative experience spans both the private and non-profit sector and includes various mental health settings at all levels of care. Ms. Atkins also operates her own private practice in Richardson, Texas.
Kiersten Rapstine, LPC-S, CEDS-S, is the Clinical Supervisor at The Renfrew Center of Dallas. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Counseling Education from the University of North Texas. Ms. Rapstine is trained in the treatment of co-occurring addictions and has worked with comorbid process addictions throughout her service in the mental health field for more than fifteen years. Joining Renfrew when the Dallas site opened in 2008, she previously held positions of Primary Therapist and Team Leader. Ms. Rapstine has a passion for helping those with eating disorders as well as working to increase awareness in the community by presenting educational workshops in multiple settings including colleges, teachers groups and mental health practices in the DFW area. She is the sitting President of the DFW Chapter of iaedp (International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals) as well as an iaedp approved consultant.
The Renfrew Center of Dallas offers an Aftercare group.
The Aftercare Group is for adolescent girls and women struggling to overcome anorexia, bulimia or disordered eating patterns involving binge eating or restricting. Led by a licensed clinician, the group provides a safe atmosphere where group members explore eating disorder triggers as well as issues concerning body image, relationships, work and school. One weekly group per month will focus on nutrition.
This group is for patients that do not require a higher level of care such as Day Treatment or IOP. A brief interview before starting the group is required.
